Synod’s session adjourned

The Holy Synod of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church has adjourned its crisis session for Monday. Today’s session held in the presence of government representatives was presided and strictly controlled by the Patriarch, Abune Pauols.
Sources said Abune Samuel who has been under house arrest attended the session. His vehicle which was taken away from him was also returned.

The scene in the meeting was remarkably peaceful in sharp contrast to the raucous meeting of the last three days, it was said.
The synod was convened to judge how far recent actions taken by the Patriarch such as the suspension of the bishops and dismissal of the recently formed executive committee were out of bounds. Although many topics were discussed and some resolutions taken, there still remained enormous gulf in how each side views the very nature of the problems and the way to go about solving them.
Relations between the Patriarch and some bishops have come under strains in recent years. The Patriarch says some of the practices of certain diocese in the church have become corrupt and they are ignoring his authority. The Bishops accuse of the Patriarch deciding on crucial issues without the knowledge of the Synod and repeatedly violating the church’s canon.Photo of Abune Samuel taken by Anteneh Aklilu

How about those bishops kicked away from the country?
I know a bishop by the name Abune Gebreail who after clash with the patriarch was banned from attending church service and even refused to be given food. He finally fled to America. Where is the justice? Should this go on?

I hear Abune Paouls is suspended. Is it true? I have no doubt it is true.
Remember his effrontery when he said he would unveil the holy ark of covenant to the public?
    A right punishment for impudence.
