Ethiopian Music Festival: in pictures
A variety of choral music was given by the Lyce Guebre Mariam School Choir presented on Saturday May 23. The performance featured the students singing some well known Amharic music altered to French lyrics as tributes for Ethiopia’s great singers.
Dancers from the Derashe Folk Group made their mark with their polyphonic music, the juxtaposition of two lines of music simultaneously. They gave the festival an indigenous feel with their walking, leaping, tumbling. Dersahe is a village about 35 km away from Araba Minch. A young woman in the audience member found it too hard to sit down and watch.
Silehsi Demissie, (a.ka. Gash Abera Mola), Master of the Ceremony throughout the festival was giving a little bit of hand clapping lesson.
