Teddy Afro gets a six-year sentence

Teddy Afro has been given a six-year sentence.

A Lideta court on Monday convicted him on two charges of killing a homeless in hit-and-run accident and driving away without reporting the incident.

On the first charge, he was sentenced to five years in prison and 13,000 Birr fine. On the second charge, he was given a one year term and 5,000-birr fine.

Teddy showed no visible reaction when the sentence was imposed and was taken from the courtroom in handcuff.

    Less than Expected.

    But He should admit if he has done it. The question is is it true that he did it.

    please Ethiopians understand that It has no political gain for the government to sentence Teddy.

    @morovaniemi

    Looking at how the court trial was handled, it ain’t difficult to say what has happened is not right. Why couldn’t a big government understand this?

    Anyhow 6yrs is a lot….but not too bad

    Hey Arefe why don’t you describe to us the feeling inside the court room and the people outside?

    i think that he should be happy that he got only 6 years, that’s not really a lot for a crime of this stature…

    6 years will pass quicker than you actually think.

    It’s sad that some people think just ’cause he’s famous and he said something about the government he’s being framed. Let’s not forget that (unfortunately) hit and runs are a very common thing in Ethiopia (i myself witnessed one incident a month ago around the megenagnia area).
    If the government was supposed to have set him up then i’m sure that he would have been sentenced for more than 6 years.

    now on the other hand OJ got 15 years today for stealing his own picture… now that’s injustice if you ask me.

    Teddy has anti government posture and he is paying for it. The kangroo court filled with puppet judges with no conscience did hatchet job. This is to make an example of him. A young singer like him spending six years for a crime he did not commit is a death sentence to his career. That is exactly what this givernment wants. Of course no one was surprized of the outcome. What stupid move by this government of so “smart” prime minister. That the chickens eventually will come to roost and actions like this will make them come sonner

    Teddy Afro is a symbol to Ethiopian fight for freedom, unity,and love. But there are some “the elites” mafia gangs who donot want him to spread his ideas so that they can steal this country by dividing the people. They are the ones who should stand for trial for their endless crimes. My prayers goes to teddy. Let God Be with him.
