It was with a great sense of loss when I heard the news of the Ethiopian Musical legend Tilahun Gessesse’s death.Tiliye was more than just a wonderful vocalist, he also loved Ethiopia with all his heart. He was always so kind and considerate to us that we always welcomed seeing him at every opportunity. And, we know that his passing will not only leave a void in his family’s heart, but also in the hearts of all those who loved him, lived, grown up with his voice. R.I.P

…If It still is a deep sorrow for me, how would this news be to his family, close friends and big fans? Sometimes, I tend to argue ”Well everyone is born to die, what else could one do?”….but can’t still swallow calling him the late Tilahun. RIP

I feel a deep sense of loss although, Tilahum has left his eternal and imortal legacy. Through his music and his essence, each time, he has taught and given me the embrace of love, and for that, I am thankful. On behalf of me and all who have known the expression of love through his lyrics, may the almighty God rest his soul and place him in heavens’ exquisite garden. Ones’ life is often measured by his send off and clearly Tilahun has shown us that he truly lived among us the life of an angel and an enlightened teacher. Thankyou Tilahun for having given me the chance to have known you.
