It was a common knowledge that Emperor Haile Selassie was a globe-trotting statesman. He was the country’s roving ambassador whose overseas sojourns sharpen western awareness of the country.
In this extract from the noted writer Kebede Michael’s reportage “Girmawinetachew Be American Hager” (His majesty in America), he recounts the warm and enthusiastic welcome His Majesty has received by the American public during his first tour in June 1954.
