EWLA director in hiding?

p43
The Executive Director of the Ethiopian Women Lawyers Association (EWLA), Mahdere Paulos has reportedly gone into hiding.
According to Ethio-Chanel, a pro-government newspaper, Mahdere is currently in Kenya and might have fled the country after the government accused her organization of providing ‘false information’ to American State Department, whose human right record report enraged the Ethiopian government.
The paper disclosed that Mahdere sent one of her family members to EWLA’s office on July 6 to present her resignation letter and to give back the office vehicle that she has been using. EWLA called an emergency meeting on the next day and has replaced Mahdere by the Legal and Counseling head, Woizero Shewaye.
The former High Court judge Mahdere has served the Association for three years. She was appointed judge at barely twenty three years of age.
EWLA is an independent woman’s organization working to defend women’s rights and improve civil society throughout Ethiopia. In September 2001, the government abruptly terminated EWLA’s work and froze its bank accounts. To date, the government has not provided any substantive reasons for suspending the organization.

Yes, they are kiking every body out except those who are ZOMBI. Don’t forget these people are even torturing the senod Members and forced them to Knee on the feet of Aba Gebre Medhin. Mahide is lucky to be out of the nation.

This is sad. Every time I read such stories it sends my heart into agony. Such acts on the part of government is out of order and wrong. And her staff at EWLA should speak up for Mahedere. If they keep quiet today, it means they are implicitly supporting such injustices. When their turn comes, no one would speak for them.

    Dears

Recently we have heard a news about defection of top-leaders of Woyane. Unfortunatly all these news were reporeted first by pro-woyane news agencies ( like reporter…. ). Doesn’t that sound a bit strange? Three top defections ..reported by pro-government blogs……

I would be careful becuase this time is influential for us (all Ethiopians) and we cannot afford to lose or to be cheated by the woyane regim.

They might be playing with us . I say, it is better to investigate more before bloging it.

Woyane’s down fall may not be long, what worries me is a day after the fall, who is prepared to lead. Birtukan the one and only candidate that deserves to take over is in prison, her fate is undetermined. What wii we do? All hell will break loose, uprising inevitable. WOOOO. Let us all pray for peaceful transition of power.

This is huge evidence of how honesty and democracy are silenced and buried in the country. How long can we allow this continue? We have been waiting for generations for such ruling thugs to depart. Instead they are making us depart!!

Mahdere has made the right decition. No one has the immunity not to be thrown to jai, even the ministers themselves. These people have come from jungle. They are still judging things from the warriors perispectives. Safty first is the order of the day for any Human rights activists. Otherwise, torture will be their day to day meal in jail. Russel’s stupidity is intolerable. If i was to meet him, I would have….
