Former Miss Ethiopia makes Girma doc

n70719246881_2307339_7160603
The 2006 Miss Ethiopia Amleset Muchie currently studying filmmaking at New York Film Academy is making a documentary on the life of President Girma Wolde-Giorgis.
The one-hour long documentary which is a school project for the actress, model and director would chronicle a day in the life of the president as told by himself, close associates and her own commentary. The documentary would bring an intimate look behind the Jubilee Palace showing as the president attending staff conference, meeting with dignitaries and ceremonial events.
The 84-year-old president who holds a symbolic office with little power has authorized Amleset to come and document him. Amleset is hoping to start shooting soon and have it ready in months’ time.
The doc would be premiered at the Film Academy and other festivals.
Amleset has already written and produced a romantic comedy, Si Le Fikir (About love) and has also starred in another Amharic film “Ye Felegal.”

AMELESET OF ALL THE PEOPLE IN ETHIOPIA, THE PRESIDENT, WHO CARES ABOUT HIM. WHY NOT TILAHUN GESSESE OR BEALU GIRMA OR EVEN ASTER AWEKE. I WOULD APPRECIATE DOCUMENTARY ON ATSE TEWODROS, YOHANES OR MENLIK II OR THE LEGENDARY QUEEN OF SHEBA IF YOU WANT LEADERS OF ETHIOPIA. PLEASE DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME MAKING THIS DOCUMENTARY, WORK ON OTHER INDIVIDUALS. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL, AND TALENTED, I ADMIRE YOU A LOT AND AM VERY PROUD OF YOU. THE SYMBOLIC PRESIDENT, I CARE LESS ABOUT HIM. LELA SEW TEFA INDE YENE KONJO.

I would rather have her make a documentary on Meles, doesn’t he look like LENIN of Russia.Shrewd, appealing and crafty. Meles’s documentary would be better than Woldegiorgis. Our symbolic president is not known to people, at least we know of Meles, and some of us would like to know where in the hell he came from. Some say, he came from the planet Mars or he was dropped like a comet as a baby, I am now curious, the more I think of a documentary about Ethiopian leader, the more I want it to be about Meles Zenawi. Ms Ethiopia this is your homework

I didn’t know such a thing existed. Oromo Ethiopian. I thought we are all Ethiopians regardless of our ethnicity. Ante Tebab Behiretena, don’t bring ethnicity into this documentary film making. I have never heard of him until Meles put him as a symbolic president, with all due respect to him. I think there are other Ethiopians who deserve recognition. How about HAILE GERIMA the independent Ethiopian film maker. A courageous individual who is brilliant, most of us would rather see a documentary about him.

    Etenu,

yes there are oromos in ethiopia. unlike other oromos, girma supports ethiopia. Other oromos hate ethiopia because of ignorant people like you.

anyway, Girma w/giorgis was parliamentarian during the Emperor and worked in international parliament groups as well as stationed in Eritrea for work in the ports and airforce.

who is haile gerima? nobody inside ethiopia knows him

Too bad you never got to know HAILE GERIMA,it is still not to late, his latest movie is TEZA,please google and read about him,he is known all over AFRICAand the world, indicates how narrowminded, ignorant is too strong of a word to use on fellow human being, Yes, there are Oromo’s in Ethiopia dear brother, but they are Ethiopians not Oromo Ethiopians, quit dividing us. You sound like a secessionist, no room for you in modern Ethiopia. Your lack of knowledge is manifested by your statement , someone in parliament , during the emperors time doesn’t deserve any credit, what have they accomplished, where were they when JONATHAN DIMBILBY let the world know about the Wollo famine, by the way, let me remind you,one of our rescuers was MICHAEL JACKSON, I bet you never heard of the song,”WE ARE THE WORLD”, our people were starving to death by and our parliament members were eating their TIRE SEGA AND DRINKING THEIR TEJ OR WHISKEY. You admire someone from that generation. There are Ethiopians who speak Oromo, Tigrengna, Amharic and other languages that we should make a documentary about. GR8 folks, whose legacy should never be forgotten. I guess this is enough grease to moisturize your dry scalp. May Michael Jackson rest in peace and don’t tell me you never heard of the drought in Ethiopia, may be Girma Woldegiorgis doesn’t know either, to this day we are known as starving nation because our parliament by then failed to take action, until foreign journalists and Hollywood took action.

    a reply to ETENU,

you are mistaken to oppose identifications like Oromo-Ethiopian.
for example, in america, we have hispanic-americans, Irish-Americans, african-americans, cuban-americans etc

there is NOTHING wrong with saying Oromo-Ethiopian.
it is not to divide ethiopia when people use Oromo-Ethiopian. You are funny. Lol

anyway, many oromos do not even like the word ethiopian because they call themselves only Oromos. and those oromos who control the politics and rose up against Haile Selassie were in opposition to any rejection of their unique oromo identity.
So It would be unintelligent if we don’t learn from history and use the old feudal policy of rejecting hyphenated(-) identity.

if we reject those who want hyphenated identity (oromo-ethiopian, sidama-ethiopians, tigre-ethiopian etc etc) then we end up losing 80% of ethiopians.

Okay I am wrong, tell me what I am, my mother Oromo and Amhara, my dad Armenian mixed with Italian and Eriterian, what kind of Ethiopan am I. Am I better of as mere Ethiopian or Oromo Amhara Armenian Italian Eriterian Ethiopia. I would rather be labeled as mere Ethiopian, and majority is mixed and confused like me, Lemlemye, I love you no matter what you are.
