Former Fugees member to join Addis concert
Grammy Award-winning Fugees member Pras Michel will join Aster Aweke and Gossaye Tesfaye in Addis on the Dagma Tensaye Eve concert to be held at the Millennium Hall on April 25th 2009.
The Haitian rapper and film producer, Pras came to Addis last week in his first trip to Ethiopia on his way to Somalia to shoot a documentary on the pirates.
Now it has been revealed that Pras will also join the upcoming Millennium Hall concert, which has Aster and Gossaye as major line-up.
In an interview with Tadias Addis this afternoon, Pras said he is thrilled to be in Ethiopia, a country that reminds him of his father’s country. He said Ethiopia is the bloodline of Africa.” The AU is here. The United Nations is here. It is one of the oldest dynasties on the continent. So you have to view that as a form of inspiration to do better, to prosper,” he told the interviewer.
The rapper who he said is going to release a new album at the end of this year said that he uses his music and film to “inspire young Africans”.
Pras produced and starred in 2007 documentary Skid row, which chronicled his nine days living on the streets of Los Angels as homeless man.
Pras said he has lots of Ethiopian friends and he knows Aster’s songs and likes them well.
With ten days to go, organizers of the concert, Adika Tour and Travel, Yisakal Etertainment and M.G. promotion are trying hard to promote the event. Pras’s inclusion seems as a push to make sure that the concert venue will be full on April 25 and they are still promising further stars in the bill.
