Live internet wedding for Tirunesh and Sileshi

Details of Tirunesh Dibaba and Sileshi Sihine’s wedding are not disclosed yet. Not before the press conference that is planned to be given tomorrow at the Hilton Hotel.

But there are already indications that this will not be an ordinary, traditional wedding.

A new official Web page http://www.tiruneshdibaba.net/ will be viewable starting from tomorrow. The lavish ceremony will be broadcasted live via the internet, according to the Amharic Reporter.

You could log on to your computer and watch the nuptials from the comfort of your own home.

I hate to be a party-pooper here (when have I ever not been 1 though, right? 😉 ). But is this becoming a trend with our athletes? Last time we heard two of them getting married, we were also told the bride’s dress broke some kind of record for having the longest “teGotach” ever. What are they trying to prove, I wonder? That they are a success? That they won that money? That they can afford it?! Or are they simply trying to compensate for something [they feel is] lacking. I can think of a couple of things off the top of my head. I’m not saying thou shalt invite the poor and down-trodden off the street on your wedding. Alebe, nefsun yimarwena, made his wife’s “happy day” full of tears. None of us are expected to be that selfless. But, Goddamn it, keep it private. Away from the world, and envious eyes. They go around throwing money and then they complain stuff is being thrown in their gibi. It’s plain stupid.
