Rains Came

I hate rain and cold weather.Unfortunately, it is what is in abundance over here at this time of the year.Kiremet has set in and it has already altered the rythms of life.Even now, sitting in front of my computer, I am seeing this huge bank of black clouds and rain that advanced down streets, enveloping the quietly huddling houses and fences and gardens.I hate it how dark it is in the house when it rains.I hate the giant quagmire my area, Ayat becomes when it rains.

Going out could be hell.Everything getting sodden:wet people huddled for hours in shops and stores, sodden stall of fruits and vegetables gleaming in the open air markets presided over by vendors under huge, black mostly broken umbrellas, passing cars splashing waters in the unlucky passerby, homeles and miserable dogs are everwhere.

Rains in Addis slap you in the face with urban poverty.Large, black and unwieldly umbrellas bloomed every where.People pick their way thourgh roadside ruts of sticky mud and running water. Broken and insufficient umbrelllas! The slum ares are knee deep in water.I wish I could move either to Nazareth or Dire Dawa!

On the contrary, I like addis ababa when it rains. I like to sit in a small cafeteria and see the rain through the windows while having tea.

Especially when it rains heavy on your roof’s corrugated iron sheet and the sound makes you feel warm and makes your bed even tastier.

Every thing has its won beauty – even a complete mess has its own beauty!

You needn’t act as if the world had come to an end, because it hasn’t.From now on you’ve got to live in a new world and face a few realities for a change.Buck up.

No need to scold Arefe for feeling like she does. She isn’t acting as if the world is coming to an end as far as I can tell: she wan’t going around making amends, saying goodbye, or making other preparations for the end, as far as I could tell. Miserable weather makes makes many people feel miserable. Do we castigate someone for feeling great when it’s sunny??

I feel you! Thanks for sharing. Does age matter how we feel? My experiance is that when i get older, rainy, grayish days became less enjoyable. Wish you a happy day!

I tell y’all what! The rain is pretty miserable when you have a toddler that wants to go outside and play all the time! Otherwise, as fp suggested, it can be refreshing:)
