For the love of Obama

January 10, 2008

m

I just came across a community blog on the Obama ‘08 official campaign website where an Ethiopian from Minnesota is blogging.

Her name is Meaza Siraj. She says she supports him   because she believes he is a man of his word and wants to be part of the generation of change.

Her latest message is for Hilary, to stop confusing people.

I guess Hilary and her camps are hearing.

Happy Blogiversary

July 27, 2007

The Ethiopian blogsphere has been growing for a few years now, though not at a particularly quick pace.Few people have internet access and most of those who do use it to check e-mail and the like. (more…)

Why is the American anti-war activist ending her involvement?

June 2, 2007

Cindy Sheehan is an American anti-war activist, whose son, Casey Sheehan, was killed during his service  in the  Iraq War on April 4, 2004, aged 24.

She has attracted international attention in August  2005 for her extended demonstration at a peace camp outside President George W.Bush’s Texas ranch garnering her both support and criticism. Now she explains in her diary in Daily Kos  why she is resigning from the “face” of the American war movement.A sad read from a diary of a mother who feels her son died for nothing.

From China with Love

January 8, 2007

Don’t Eat My Buchela has a bad news on the new regulation in
China that that forces bloggers to give real names when they register a new blog.

I just hope this is not another lesson my beloved country is going to take up from China.

What is more, I  received an email this morning from Yemi of the blog I mentioned telling me that my blog is blocked in China.

It would appear that WordPress will no longer be available to anyone to use in
China.

How about checking  out www.proxydom.com to access blocked sites.

On The Disappeared Blogs

November 28, 2006

It was Meskel Square that first sounded the alarm on the disappearance of blog spot blogs yesterday.I wanted to check for myself, and I tried to open a number of them and all I got was, ‘Error’. I tried  again and again but they were consistently unavailable. Sad news.

Another mindless exercise on the parts of this regime. How long will it continue acting the way it does?

Well.It is not a new thing. Blogs have always been observed here under a skeptical and hostile microscope. With the regime dragging this country into authoritarian rule, that’s no surprise.

But it is not time to give up.There must be some ways of unblocking the blogs.

If you know how to unblock them, drop a line and let us know. It is better doing something than nothing.

‘What Abesha women want?’ and Others

November 20, 2006

A question for Abesha Wondoch. How much do you know about what Abesha women want?

Please let us take time to listen now.

A friend and fellow-blogger, Will

asks if a military coup was averted here in Ethiopia. A lot more than we know is going on in this country!

An image of English town had cropped up for Andrew at the Meta Brewery yesterday.

Ewenet, the new blog on the block, lauds the wonderful show of support for Khalid Adem,(the march in Addis) but was dissapointed by the ‘main news agencies ‘ report of the matter.

For Lela-Tensae, the question is if a donkey can fix an ass. They ‘ve got the answer.

These are definitely my list of ‘must read’ post of the day or the week.
