Teddy is free

Readers might remember a reprint of Capital’s news report in this blog last Sunday on Teddy Afro’s arrest and release after hit-and-run allegations. The other papers, the Fortune and the Amharic Reporter, that came out on that same day also carried similar news story. It appeared that some parts of the report were baseless and untrue.

Much to the relief of his fans, Teddy is free and there is no charge brought up on him.

Addis Admass, the Amharic weekly, reported in today’s edition that though Teddy went to court on Wednesday with his lawyer, he learned that there no file was opened on him and there wasn’t anyone on the spot to bring charge against him.

Addis Admass that says had based its information from reliable sources wrote that Teddy was bewildered  by the nature of the reports linking him to such inhuman act of hit-and-run .

The sources was quoted as saying he had a sleepless night on that day as he flied nonstop from Canada to America and then to Ethiopia for 25 hours and , he happened to hit a barricade in his residential area around CMC which was far from the scene where he was said to have committed the crime.

The court decided that police did not have enough evidence to bring charge against the singer. But as police has a right to detain a suspect for investigation for 24 hours, Teddy was arrested for a day in the Third Police Station, the paper wrote.

The paper noted down that Teddy was disappointed by the unfounded news reporting that linked him to the allegation and he wants follow up and clarification on how such allegations were made on him.

Did the papers get thier facts wrong ?

Let’s wait and see what they have to say tommorow.

Update: The Amharic Reporter had a front -page news yesterday stating that the taxi driver who provided a false tip-off that linked Teddy Afro to a hi-and-run accusation  was sent to jail.

Given the current governmnet mafia conduct, to me, they’re giving him some kind of clue/message that what they could do to him. If i were him i’ll would be real careful and i don’t travel alone from now on. How come a person like Teddy (celberity) driving around alone? Security guard is not part of a culture for celbe’s yet?

wHAT IS A BIG DEAL ,TEDY AS AN INDIVIDUAL SUSPECTED FOR HIT AND RUN CRIME ,THE POLICE HAS THE RIGHT TO DETAIN TEDDY AS A SUSPECT FOR 24HRS AND INVESTIGATE THE CASE ,IF HE IS FREE OF THE CHARGE ,HE WILL BE FREE, WHAT IS BIG DEAL HERE,BY THE WAY WHY DO THEY SEND THE TAXI DRIVER TO JAIL,IS IT LEGALLY COREECT TO SEND SOMEONE DIRECTELY TO JAIL BECAUSE HE PROVIDED INFORMATION ON THE CELEBRITIES OR WHAT,WHICH IS UNFAIRE ,I DO BELIEVE THAT TEDDY HAS THE RIGHT TO ACCUSE THE TAXI DRIVER IN THE COURT BUT NOTHING ELSE.

I think we shouldn’t make this issue a big deal. I belive if Teddy has done what is being said he should be penalized as any individual should be. Law could not be changed just because a celebirity like Teddy could be protected. As to my opinion I think if he has done it, he should deserve the normal penality as any other Ethiopian even though we are going to miss his hottest hits that we have been expecting to come along the comming holiday.

Abeshoch akabajoch atihunu! There are so many Oromos/Ogadenis/Sidamas and others languishing in prison. Most of these dissidents are more innocent than your god Teddy–until we know he’s guilty or not. “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” So don’t make the dude’s case a big deal. He can be a god for some of you but not for all of us. He is just another worshiper of a tyrant monarch.
In fact it is good for him to go to Kaliti for he will take advantage of the moment to build a cult of personality, by singing another “when I was in jail” song.

  8. jt@LEDATA Says:

    I wish that is true.
