The second issue of Parent’s Corner is out.
If you haven’t seen it before ,a few words of explanation: It‘s Ethiopian pioneering English language family magazine that came out last June.
A remarkably well-written and well-designed magazine.
And it is nice to see they’ve made it to the second issue. After all, the magazine business in this country is not that dependable. One of the articles is on divorce and its impact on kids and the author who herself is ‘ a recently divorced mother ‘ advices other divorcees to take all the care not to let the divorce impact the well being of the children. She proposes that divorced parents need
‘to get past the crippling and sizzling emotions and get down to parenting again; with the very person that we wish we never would have anything to do with again.’
Whether it is a practical advice or not is quite another matter, but it is something to ponder about considering the delicacy of the issue.
In another article , ‘a non-custodial father of two’, whatever that means, shares his experience to put in the picture on the need take every opportunity to tell kids that ‘we’ (I mean those of who are parents) love them. The article combines the authenticity of actual experience with an informed judgement.
Written in a very readable way, PC will be an invaluable guide to those parents and would be parents.
In their book review sections, they chose to talk about three books, one of which is ‘Abraham Hannibal and the Battle for the throne’.
There is always some surprise or other just lurking around the corner.
One last advice for moms from Eleni G., an economist who has recently relocated with her two sons from Washington DC, to Addis Ababa ,
‘never start a vacation day with TV or electronics of any sort. If you do , good luck getting your kids to willingly do anything else the rest of the day. When a beautiful summer day stretches out ahead of you, full of promise , of adventure and family fun, you just don’t want to compete with the Rugrats, if you know what I mean.’
I am not a father yet, but I know what you mean.

Thanks arefeayne.
The megazine is a good start. However, it sounds they only work to attract rich class of the town. They should work more to attract the majority.
